Telangana police have filed an FIR towards 25 celebrities, including Rana Daggubati, Prakash Raj, Vijay Devarakonda and Manchu Lakshmi, for allegedly promoting illegal online betting apps, ANI reported on Thursday. The Case filed against Rana Daggubati , and FIR was lodged with the Miyapur police station in Hyderabad following a grievance through a 32-year-old businessman, Phanindra Sarma, as per social media post by a Hyderabad journalist.

The complainant accused the celebs of endorsing or being related to online betting platforms which can be allegedly working outside the legal framework. Actresses Pranitha and Nidhhi Agerwal with some of social media influencers, which include Ananya, Sreemukhi, Siri Hanumanthu, Shyamala, Varshini, Shobha, Neha, Pandu, Padmavathi, Imran Khan, Vishnu Priya, Harsha Sai, Sunny Yadav, Tasty Teja, and Ritu, have been also reportedly named in the criticism.
The celebrities, who’ve a large following on social media platforms, had been accused of endorsing the betting apps via posts, advertisements, and live-streaming activities, which reportedly helped the apps gain traction amongst users. None of the celebs named in the criticism issued any public assertion in response to the allegations by the point this case was filed.
Risks of illegal betting
Case filed against Rana Daggubati , because illegal betting and gambling apps has cause issue throughout the country, with numerous states already taking strict actions against diverse kinds of gambling, except for horse racing, lottery and a few card games. Goa and Sikkim are the best states that allow putting in of casinos for playing.
