The Madras High Court has passed a strict order against guru Jaggi Vasudev, also known as Sadhguru. Jaggi Vasudev’s Isha Foundation is charged with brainwashing two daughters of a professor from Tamil Nadu. Now, the two sisters, aged 42 and 39 years respectively, are stated to be staying at his Isha Foundation as sannyasis, which prompted their father, a retired professor Kamaraj, to file a petition. He feels they have been cut off from family contact and kept at the Isha Yoga Centre.
An apparently laughable question arose in this hearing: Why should Sadhguru’s own daughter be married and settled, yet tell everyone else to renounce all worldly living? The court was concerned about these contradictions and also pointed out that multiple criminal complaints are pending against the Isha Foundation. The Tamil Nadu government has been ordered to submit details of all criminal cases against the Foundation, with the court taking a strict order against guru Jaggi Vasudev.
Strict order against guru Jaggi Vasudev passed, hearing set for October 4
The daughters of the professor testified that they were in the centre on their own accord. Following this testimony, the court released a private audience with them. After the private meeting, the court held out further scepticism and voiced some concerns regarding even brainwashing and misconduct.
The serious allegations range from sexual harassment to isolation from family. The court has questioned the women, who are being encouraged to embrace the life of a sanyasi, against the real lifestyle of Sadhguru’s own daughter, who is living a normal life. Now, the case is being set for further hearing on October 4. In this case, the court strictly persists in its order concerning the strict order against guru Jaggi Vasudev and the Isha Foundation.
