The ED Raid in Delhi conducts at least a dozen places in Jharkhand’s Ranchi, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, and Delhi with fraudulent activities and cases under the Ayushman Bharat scheme or PMJAY.
The raids are being performed following allegations that payments have been made without any medical treatment or any patient being admitted to hospitals empanelled under Centre’s flagship health insurance scheme.

Under the scheme, negative households are offered Rs 5 lakh every for secondary and tertiary care hospitalization. The scheme covers around 12.3 crore households of weak socio-financial status. The scheme has now been applicable to all elderly 70 and above.
A CAG record tabled in Parliament in 2023 disclosed a huge level of corruption in the Ayushman scheme in Jharkhand. The record discovered that without the admission of patients, the coverage quantity was being fraudulently siphoned off via scamsters. The record revealed that such fraud took place in at least 212 hospitals.
