Rahul Gandhi’s Lok Sabha membership was restored on Monday after his disqualification was revoked by the Lok Sabha Secretariat.
A Gujarat court convicted Gandhi in a defamation case and sentenced him to two years in prison on March 23.
A punishment of two years or more automatically disqualifies a lawmaker.
On Friday last, the Supreme Court stayed his conviction, allowing him to regain his Lok Sabha membership.

The BJP’s next action plan
Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP), the main opponent of Congress, is gearing up to attack Rahul Gandhi.
In an interview with IANS, a BJP leader said: “The party will not comment on the apex court verdict, but Rahul Gandhi will definitely be asked about it, because he used to make comments about it from the Ramlila Maidan to across the country and even to London and America, to the point of being held in contempt of the Supreme Court.
He said this question will be asked to Rahul Gandhi, who is excited only by the stay on conviction, that what is his thinking now about the independence of the judiciary and other constitutional institutions of the country and his continuous derogatory statements about democracy in India.
In addition to Rahul Gandhi’s statements, the BJP will attack states controlled by the Congress and its allies for atrocities against women in Rajasthan, scams in Chhattisgarh, violence during West Bengal panchayat elections, the situation in Bihar, and the ‘corruption’ of the Kejriwal government. Moreover, it will take aim at the opposition-led alliance INDIA and the allies it governs in terms of their state of affairs.
