100 Crude Bombs Recovered from TMC Worker's House in Bhangar Before Phase 2 Polls

Police on Sunday recovered about 100 crude bombs from the home of a person connected to the Trinamool Congress in the Bhangar area of South 24 Parganas district, West Bengal. This recovery comes just days before the second phase of the Assembly elections in the state.

Officials reported that the explosives were found during a search at the house of Rafikul Islam. The operation happened based on specific intelligence, which led to the discovery of a large number of crude bombs.

Surveillance intensified in vulnerable areas

After the recovery, the ECI issued strong instructions to police officials throughout the state. An ECI official said, “A stern message sent to the Commissioner of Police, Kolkata, all DCPs, SPs, and officers up to the rank of OC and IC. If any explosive found or threatening tactics used by anyone in their jurisdiction, the concerned officer face action.”

The official also mentioned that surveillance and area control measures stepped up in sensitive regions. The goal is to ensure voters can cast their ballots without fear during the elections.
