BJP claims that the option to vote for the “lotus” symbol blocked with tape at several polling booths in the Falta seat of Diamond Harbour.
Amit Malviya, the BJP’s co-incharge for West Bengal, has accused Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress of stopping voters from making their choice. The BJP is demanding an immediate repoll in all the affected booths in Falta where these incidents occurred.

Malviya said that the TMC used this same tactic before to help Mamata Banerjee’s nephew, Abhishek Banerjee, win the LokSabha election from the Diamond Harbour seat.
The West Bengal Election Commissioner said that reports of button tampering will be thoroughly checked. If these claims confirmed, the affected booths have to conduct a repoll.
Falta Assembly Seat
The TMC has nominated Jahangir Khan to run against the BJP Debangshu Panda in the Falta seat of South 24 Parganas. Sambhu Nath Kurmi from the Left Front and Congress candidate Abdur Razzak Molla are also competing.
During the campaign, the seat gained attention due to a confrontation between Jahangir Khan and the ECI-appointed police observer, IPS Ajay Pal Sharma. Khan told the media, “If he is Singham, I am also Pushpa,” after the officer carried out raids to prevent voter intimidation.
