The BJP achieve the victory in Gujarat’s urban areas with all 15 municipal corporations. The 2026 local body elections results shows that the “saffron wave” remains stable in Gujarat and grown stronger in key urban centers.
BJP Win over AAP with 15 Gujarat Municipal Corporations
BJP got victory in Ahmedabad by secure the 164 seats out of 192 seats. It is most dramatic change occurred in Surat. AAP party also surprised many by winning 27 seats in the previous election. It saw its support sharply decline, winning only four seats this time.
PM Modi congratulated the BJP on its significant victory in a post on X. He praised the Gujarat BJP Karyakartas for their grassroots efforts, stating, “They have always worked among the people and addressed their problems. This is why our Party has repeatedly been the preferred choice of Gujarat.”
Party success spread to taluka and district panchayats
The BJP’s success also spread to the taluka and district panchayats, although the Congress and AAP found some small areas of support in rural regions. To celebrate this significant victory, a grand “Vijayotsav” (victory festival) planned for tonight in Ahmedabad. CM Bhupendra Patel, Deputy CM Harsh Sanghavi, and state BJP president Jagdish Vishwakarma will headline the event.
The party leadership has described the result as a strong public endorsement of the “double engine” governance model, clearly shaping the political future of the state.
