TVK Invites Congress, VCK, Left, and IUML to Join Cabinet: Adhav Arjuna Signals Alliance Shift

The Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) government in Tamil Nadu invited its allies, the Congress, VCK, and IUML, to join the cabinet on Wednesday. Tamil Nadu Minister for Public Works and Sports Development Adhav Arjuna said that CM C Joseph Vijay wants the cabinet to operate as “one family” with parties like Congress, VCK, CPI, CPI-M, and IUML, which played a key role in forming the government.

“Both the CM and the TVK party share the same vision that leaders and parties dedicated to social justice should be part of the cabinet. In particular, the Congress stepped up and provided great support to us, trusting in our leader.”

Arjuna mentioned that the chief minister has stressed the importance of Congress joining the cabinet, but also noted, “We will always respect the policy decision of the Left parties to support us from outside.” He added that the TVK government is committed to social justice and will uphold secular principles.

“Similarly, we invite the leader of the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), chief Thol Thirumavalavan, to join the cabinet, which is also the Chief Minister’s wish.”

A consultative meeting of those parties is currently in progress, discussing the cabinet’s participation. He expressed hope, saying, “We believe that good news will emerge soon.”

Arjuna also claimed that the DMK and AIADMK have tried to block the TVK party from forming a government by working together to gain power. He explained that the AIADMK rebel group led by C VeShanmugam supported the TVK during the floor test in an effort to “save” their party, not to secure ministerial positions.
