Bengal’s new CM Suvendu Adhikari promised to “work for all” during his first Cabinet meeting on the 14th floor of Nabanna on Monday. He announced six important decisions made by his government.

“Bengal saw a peaceful, intimidation-free election for the first time. We grateful to the people and the Election Commission. We also thank the workers, CAPF, observers, West Bengal Police, and Kolkata Police,” he said.
“We work for all. The people have given life, and we will always remember them. We will provide them with justice and take responsibility for their needs,” he stated.
Key decisions
- Border Security: Suvendu Adhikari approved the transfer of 600 acres of land to the Border Security Force for fencing along the Bangladesh border. “Within 45 days, we will give land to the BSF.
- Census: “Today, we have issued an administrative order to start the census operations. This initiative is finally being put into action after a delay of eleven months.
- “The Cabinet has approved the ‘Ayushman Bharat’ scheme. The necessary steps, including signing agreements with the Central Government’s Health Department and completing other required formalities, will start today.”
- Officer Training: He overturned the previous policy to let IAS, IPS, and WBPS officers receive training in other states.
- Job Recruitment: He announced a five-year age relaxation for candidates who missed recruitment opportunities in previous years.
- BNS: He directed the immediate implementation of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) in the state. The previous government did not implement the BNS. It will be adopted starting today, he said.
