The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has decided to withdraw from the upcoming tri-nation T20 series with Pakistan and Sri Lanka. This follows after Pakistani Airstrikes Kill Three Cricketers.
In a statement on social media, the ACB condemned the incident and called it “a cowardly attack carried out by the Pakistani regime.” Afghanistan set to participate in the tri-series includes Sri Lanka, in Lahore and Rawalpindi from November 5 to 29.
What after Pakistani Airstrikes Kill Three Cricketers
Afghanistan cricket team captain Rashid Khan released a strong statement against the “barbaric” airstrikes. He expressed his support for the decision to withdraw from the tri-series. “In this heartbreaking incident, three players (Kabeer, Sibghatullah, and Haroon) along with five other fellow countrymen from Urgun District killed. 7 others were injured,” the ACB said in a statement on Saturday.
Tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan have worsened since October 11. It is when intense border clashes erupted after Afghan forces reportedly attacked several Pakistani military posts.

Rashid Khan, a prominent figure in Afghanistan’s cricket rise, said that children and aspiring cricketers lost their lives in the airstrikes. “I am deeply saddened by the loss of civilian lives after Pakistani Airstrikes Kill Three Cricketers. It is a tragedy that took the lives of women, children, and young cricketers who dreamed of representing their country on the global stage,” he said. “It is absolutely immoral and barbaric to target civilian infrastructure.
These illegal actions show a serious violation of human rights and should not go unnoticed. Given the innocent lives lost, I support the ACB’s decision to withdraw from upcoming matches against Pakistan. I stand with our people during this tough time; our national dignity must come first.”
