For the upcoming T20I series against England, team India would miss the fiery pace of Mayank Yadav, who had impressed with his performances, particularly in IPL for Lucknow Super Giants. He clocks 150 kmph consistently but a lagger back injury has kept him out of contention for the white-ball assignment and he won’t feature in the T20I series against England, scheduled to begin on January 22.
Mayank Yadav set to miss T20I series against England following back-to-back fitness issues
The injury has also ruled him out of Delhi’s second-leg Ranji Trophy match against Saurashtra, which is a prove of his fitness issues. A BCCI source revealed, “Mayank is suffering from a back injury and won’t be able to make it in time for the England series. He hasn’t been named in Delhi’s probables for their next Ranji game either.”
Mayank made his T20I debut against Bangladesh last year and has a lot of potential. He has been troubled by injuries that have kept him away from the ODIs and Tests. Yet, many see him as a future mainstay in India’s pace attack.
Jasprit Bumrah’s absence will further add to India’s woes
Adding to India’s bowling woes is the unavailability of premier fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah for the entire white-ball series against England. His lower back issues cropped up during the Sydney Test and remain a point of concern going into the much-awaited Champions Trophy.
Mohammed Siraj and Arshdeep Singh are expected to spearhead the pace attack during the series against England in their absence. The rest of the bowling combination will be announced, but the Indians will need their bench strength for the match as England boasts of a vibrant batting line-up.
As the fans look forward to Mayank and Bumrah’s early return, the attention of the team shifts towards forming a powerful team for the star-studded series.
