South Africa’s batting all-rounder Dian Forrester has replaced Jamie Overton in the Chennai Super Kings’ squad for the rest of IPL 2026. Overton ruled out of the season on May 13, due to an injury he suffered during CSK match against Lucknow Super Giants on May 10, in Chennai. The IPL announced Forrester as Overton’s injury replacement on X on Thursday.

“CSK have chosen a replacement for Jamie Overton, who ruled out for the rest of the season with a right thigh injury. Dian Forrester will join CSK for INR 75 lakh as Overton’s replacement. Forrester, an all-rounder from South Africa, made his debut in March 2026 against New Zealand and has played 5 international games, scoring 83 runs,” the announcement said.
Overton’s injury is a setback for the Chennai Super Kings. The English all-rounder was one of CSK’s top performers this season. He played 10 matches for the Men in Yellow before his injury and scored 136 runs while taking 14 wickets.
Team update about Overton’s injury
Overton is CSK’s second-highest wicket-taker in IPL 2026. In CSK’s last match against Lucknow Super Giants, he took 3 wickets for 36 runs, earning the Player of the Match award.
CSK first shared the news of Overton’s injury. The Chennai-based franchise posted on X, said that Overton has a right thigh injury and will return to the United Kingdom for further assessment and management.
