Harmanpreet Kaur led the Mumbai Indians (MI) to their second victory in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026. The Women in Blue beat the Gujarat Giants (GG) by 7 wickets in a chase of 193 runs. This marks the second-highest run chase in WPL history. With this win, MI has now won eight matches against GG. Additionally, the Mumbai Indians moved up to second place in the Points Table. First Innings
Batting first, GG got off to a strong start after Beth Mooney was dropped by G Kamilini in the first over. However, Shabnim Ismail broke the opening partnership in the 3rd over by dismissing Sophie Devine. Following that, Kanika Ahuja and Mooney attacked MI’s bowlers and scored 62 runs in the Powerplay.
After the Powerplay and Strategic Timeout, MI made a comeback by getting Mooney out for 33. Shortly after, Ashleigh Gardner and Kanika Ahuja fell in quick succession. Later, Ayushi Soni retired due to a low strike rate in the middle overs. In the end, GG finished with 192 runs in 20 overs, thanks to a 50-run partnership between Fulmali and Wareham.
