Rajasthan Royals have announced a major reshuffle ahead of the new IPL 2026, involving several key player trades. The most significant trade sends Sanju Samson, the team’s long-time captain and favorite among fans, to Chennai Super Kings (CSK). In return, Rajasthan Royals have brought back Ravindra Jadeja and signed English all-rounder Sam Curran.
RR signed Ravindra Jadeja for IPL 2026
Jadeja’s return is a heartfelt homecoming for him. He was first discovered by Rajasthan Royals during their title-winning campaign in 2008. Jadeja reflected on his journey, saying, “Rajasthan Royals gave me my first platform and my first taste of victory. Coming back feels special. It’s not just a team for me; it’s home. Rajasthan Royals is where I won my first IPL, and I hope to win more with this current group of players.”
Donovan Ferreira moves back to RR from DC
Jadeja’s extensive experience as a world-class all-rounder and leader is expected to add significant value to the Royals. The IPL 2026 trade sees Sanju Samson, a key player for Rajasthan Royals, moving to Chennai Super Kings. His contribution to the team has been enormous, growing from a 17-year-old trialist to one of Indian cricket’s admired leaders.
RR also traded Nitish Rana to Delhi Capitals and welcomed back Donovan Ferreira. Rajasthan Royals have struck a deal with Delhi Capitals for a swap ahead of the auction. Nitish Rana, who played a decent role with RR in IPL 2025, is returning to his home franchise with the Capitals. Ferreira, the Proteas international, has previously played for the Royals and makes his return in IPL 2026.
“It feels great to return to a familiar environment. I’ve had a good chat with Kumar and I’m looking forward to playing my role for the Royals,” Ferreira said after rejoining the team.
