Reacting to reports of new restrictions on Indian tourists traveling to Nepal, the country has dismissed them as unfounded. The reports created the impression that Nepal trying to limit tourist visits from India.
Nepal tourism dismiss false travel restriction rumors
In a statement, the Nepal Tourism Board expressed serious concern about the misleading and incorrect information shared by various media outlets and online platforms regarding travel rules for Indian visitors.
Claims that the Government imposed new restrictions requiring mandatory identity cards for Indians crossing the Nepal-India border, limited Indian tourist stays to 30 days, or allowed confiscation of vehicles for overstays are completely false and misleading.
No new policy introduce
Nepal has not introduced any new policy that restricts the duration of stay for Indian tourists. No changes made to the long-standing open-border arrangements and agreements between Nepal and India. The historic connections between the two countries in terms of people-to-people relations, cultural ties, and tourism cooperation remain strong, the statement said.
“With this new digital system developed by the Department of Customs under the Ministry of Finance, foreign vehicles entering Nepal can now complete temporary entry permits and revenue payments completely online. This initiative simplify procedures and reduce inconvenience at border points. It also improve the overall visitor experience,” the Nepal Tourism Board said.
