A Severe heat wave hit the Delhi city, and temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius. So the government setup the cooling zones and mobile relief points in some parts of city. It give relief to people from hot temperatures. It also offer cold drinking water, ORS packets, shaded rest areas, and cooling facilities, especially for outdoor workers, commuters, and those without shelter.
Cooling Zones Open in Delhi, Give Relief from 40°C Hot
The IMD warns that the heat in Delhi will continue to rise. These cooling setups are part of Delhi’s Heat Wave Action Plan 2026. The city is using satellite data to identify high-risk hot zones and has instructed hospitals to prepare cool rooms and stock up on extra ORS.
The IMD predicts that temperatures could increase by another three to five degrees Celsius, but there is some hope for relief with thunderstorms expected between May 11 and 14. Meanwhile, officials are advising everyone to stay hydrated and avoid being outdoors during the hottest afternoon hours.
