Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with the Foreign Ministers attending the BRICS Foreign Ministers’ meeting in New Delhi today. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, South African Foreign Minister Ronald Lamola, and Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira among those who met with him.

These meetings occurred during the BRICS Foreign Ministers’ gathering happening in New Delhi. Earlier, in his opening remarks, External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar said that peace and security are central to the global order. He noted that recent conflicts highlight the need for dialogue and diplomacy. He pointed out that in this complicated and uncertain world, discussions promote sustainable development while respecting principles of fairness and varying responsibilities.
He emphasized that advances in technology reshaping the global landscape and that these used for good governance and inclusive growth. Dr.Jaishankar mentioned a common interest in enhancing cooperation against terrorism. He emphasized that ongoing conflicts, economic uncertainties, and challenges in trade, technology, and climate issues are shaping the global scene.
Build strong cooperation against terrorism
Dr. Jaishankar also expressed gratitude to the participating countries for their presence. It makes ongoing commitment to strengthening cooperation within the BRICS framework. He noted that many countries still face issues regarding energy, food, fertilizer, and health security.
The theme of the event is Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation, and Sustainability. It inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi Humanity First and People-centric vision for BRICS. Tomorrow, on the second day, BRICS member and partner countries join a session titled BRICS@20: Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation, and Sustainability. It followed by a session on Reforms of Global Governance and the Multilateral System.
