Rajnath Singh Refuses To sign SCO Joint Statement over India’s zero-tolerance stance on terrorism

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who addressed the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) refused to sign a document that diluted India’s stance, sources said.

It is recognized that China and Pakistan attempted to drop the point out of the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack all through the Summit. However, no consensus reached on the same, resources said.

Bringing the Summit’s attention to the Pahalgam terror attack, the Defence Minister said, “On April 22, 2025, the terror group ‘The Resistance Front’ carried out a deadly attack on tourists in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir.” “26 innocent civilians, including a Nepali nationals killed in that attack” he recalled.

“Victims were shot at once they identified based on their spiritual identification. The Resistance Front, which is a proxy of UN-distinct terror institution Lashkar-e-Taiba, claimed responsibility for the attack,” Singh said.

The Defence Minister also said India exercised its “right to protect” and correctly released ‘Operation Sindoor,’ work against dismantling the cross-border terrorist infrastructure.

“The pattern of the Pahalgam terror attack matches with LeT’s previous terror attacks in India. In exercising its right to protect against terrorism and pre-empt as well as deter with cross-border terrorist attacks, India, on May 7, 2025, correctly released ‘Operation Sindoor’ to dismantle cross-border terrorist infrastructure,” Rajnath Singh said.
