Amul going to invest Rs 650 crore in a major dairy project in West Bengal. This investment is expected to improve the state’s dairy infrastructure and create significant job opportunities. Several BJP leaders have shared posts on social media about the proposed investment, stating that the facility would be Amul’s first fully-owned dairy plant in West Bengal.

However, the BJP government has not yet made an official announcement regarding this investment. Previously, the BJP criticized the former TMC government’s Bengal Global Business Summit. They claimed that despite promises of industrial growth and investment, no significant investments had occurred in the state. Bengal BJP president Samik Bhattacharya expressed confidence in reviving the industry, stating that there would be a “magic” transformation within 100 days.
More investments are in plan
State Animal Resources Development Minister Dilip Ghosh mentioned that more investments are expected in Bengal soon. He said, “The state has immense industrial potential. I am receiving calls from Dubai, London, and Singapore. People from Delhi and Mumbai are also contacting us about investments.”
Ghosh referred to the Haringhata dairy plant, noting that he recently visited the facility and observed severe mismanagement. He also claimed that the condition of Mother Dairy was far from good. According to him, Mother Dairy’s daily milk production has dropped from nearly six lakh litres to around 30,000 litres.
