Sri Lankan Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya has arrived in New Delhi for a three-day visit. This marks her first trip to India since she took office.

Harini Amarasuriya on 3 day visit to India after China
The Sri Lankan PM finished a three-day visit to China on Tuesday. “This will be my first official visit to India as Prime Minister of Sri Lanka. India and Sri Lanka are connected by history, culture, and shared values. Our relationship is important, and I look forward to using this opportunity to improve our cooperation in trade, investment, education, development, and more,” Amarasuriya said before her trip to India.
The Sri Lankan PM is an alumna of Hindu College at the University of Delhi, and she will visit her alma mater during this trip.
Deep bilateral ties supported by ‘MAHASAGAR Vision’
Her visit continues the tradition of regular high-level exchanges between India and Sri Lanka, which strengthen their deep bilateral ties, the MEA stated. “It will further enhance the bonds of friendship, backed by India’s ‘MAHASAGAR Vision’ and its ‘Neighbourhood First’ policy,” it noted.
Modi announced the MAHASAGAR vision, or “Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions,” for India’s engagement with the Global South during his visit to Mauritius in March.
Harini Amarasuriya will also deliver a keynote address at the ‘NDTV World Summit.’ As the Education Minister of Sri Lanka, she will visit the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi and NITI Aayog to explore ways to work together in education and technology, according to the MEA.
