Govt Employee Unions Organize Historic Pension Rights Maharally in Delhi

Mahrally in delhi pension scheme

Several railway union leaders have announced that employees of central and state government departments will Maharally at Ramlila Maidan on August 10 to demand the Old Pension Scheme be restored. Union leaders said Tuesday that the ‘Pension Rights Maharally’ will be held under the banner of the Joint Forum for Restoration of Old Pension Scheme (JFROPS)/National Joint Council of Action (NJCA).

Shiv Gopal Mishra, NJCA national convener and general secretary of All India Railway Men’s Federation (AIRF), said government employees who joined after January 1, 2004, strongly oppose the New Pension Scheme (NPS).

As a result of being deprived of the Old Pension Scheme and forced into the New Pension Scheme, they are concerned about their future after retirement.

The future and old age support of millions of employees are at risk, which is why we formed the Joint Forum for Restoration of Old Pension Schemes (JFROPS)/NJCA.

We will organize a ‘Pension Rights Maharally’ at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi at 9:30 am on August 10,” Mishra said for pension scheme.

A wide range of central, state, railway and PSU employees, teachers, defence and ex-paramilitary personnel will attend the rally.

From the state level to Jantar Mantar in Delhi, the group has organized numerous demonstrations, rallies, and torch processions and submitted memoranda to district officials, governors, cabinet secretaries, and even the prime minister.

Employees are now tired of the government’s “anti-employee policies,” Mishra said.

Those employees who dedicate their entire lives to an organization and nation should not be denied support when they reach old age when the leaders are entitled to the Old Pension Scheme.

The government should immediately restore the Old Pension Scheme, as this is their right.

A ‘Bharat Bandh’ will be declared if the government doesn’t respond (to our demand). The government alone will be liable,” he said.
