Jailed MP Er Rashid granted 2-day parole to attend Parliament

On Monday, Delhi High Court has grant the two day parole to Jailed MP Er Rashid to attend Parliament. MP Er Rashid granted 2-day parole for attending Parliament on 11  and 13 February. Rashid was arrested in 2019 under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. As per NIA, he alleged for using the pubic platforms to “propagate the ideology of separatism and secessionism”, was associated with the several terrorist organisations. He wants to “legitimize” the United Jihad Council, which is the platform of anti-India militant groups in J & K.

Rashid approach to high court and request for parole to attend Parliament. In this parole, he is prohibited for using phone or other telecom devices. He also not allowed to use the internet or interacts with other, include Media. The court also added that Baramulla MP’s Security is allowed up till a point in Parliament in consultation with the secretary general.

Even NIA argued that Rashid do not have right to attend Parliament by demands parole, Rashid’s counsel argued that his client violated no court order, when he was granted parole to attend Parliament.

Rashid armed personnel while attend Parliament

The anti-terror agency told the court and highlighted the security challenges. The agency said, “He has accompanied by armed personnel.” How can you Enter in Parliament with armed personnel? Nobody can enter with arms. He is subject to norms of different bodies after MP Er Rashid granted 2-day parole, he adds.

While referring to case where the lawmaker Pappu Yadav allowed to attend Parliament, Rashid’s lawyers argued that at time when funds allocate in union territory had been slashed by Rs 1,000 crore. They said, “ he should be allowed to attend parliament and represent his constituency in ongoing Budget session.”
