Shubman Gill celebrated his first series win as Test captain after India completed the series with a 2-0 score. KL Rahul played a brilliant innings, scoring 58* and leading the hosts to a comfortable seven-wicket victory at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Tuesday.
India triumph against West Indies with 2-0 score
On day five’s opening hour, Sai Sudharsan and KL Rahul resumed their innings with a target of 121 runs, starting with overnight scores of 25 and 30. The pair played cautiously in the early overs until Rahul decided to attack. He showed urgency by moving down the pitch and hitting a six over long-on off Khary Pierre. He followed this by stepping out of his crease and flicking the ball for four. Sudharsan (39) attempted to replicate this but got out, hitting a drive straight to Shai Hope off captain Roston Chase.
In the contest between captains, Shubman Gill (13) jumped on the attack immediately with a six and a four. However, Chase had the final say. Trying to clear the boundary, Gill sent the ball high into the air. Justin Greaves, standing at mid-wicket, raced to the spot and managed to catch it.
KL Rahul make impressive runs
Rahul continued to impress with his excellent batting, bringing India closer to victory. He reached his 50 with a sweep that took a top edge, allowing him to run for two and achieve another milestone in his successful career. Dhruv Jurel opted for an aerial shot but gave away an outside edge that fortunately landed safely. He ran for two, leveling the scores.
