Rohit Sharma continues to grab headlines in India. He is set to play in the three-match ODI series against Australia starting Sunday, and discussions about his current and future performance are still going strong.
A recent video shared by the Make-A-Wish Foundation shows Rohit interacting with children, and it is going viral. In the video, one child asks Rohit about his next game. Rohit responds that it will be against Australia. “I will play in October. On the 19th of October, we are playing in Australia,” he says.

Another child asks Rohit when the next World Cup will be and if he plans to play in it. “I want to,” Rohit replies. The boy insists he wants to see Rohit bat. “There are a lot of matches before the World Cup,” the former India captain explains.
When another child asks about his dream of winning the World Cup, Rohit simply says ‘Yes’ with a smile. His fans see this as a sign of his determination to compete for his spot in the tournament and achieve his goal of lifting the ultimate prize in cricket. Rohit, the only Indian captain after MS Dhoni to win multiple ICC titles, has played in three World Cups but has only watched India lose in the semi-finals or finals each time.

Despite this, he added titles in the 2024 T20 World Cup and the 2025 Champions Trophy to his record. However, Rohit Sharma stepped back from both T20I and Test formats within a year. By the time the 2027 World Cup begins in Southern Africa, he will be 40, but he has increased his fitness training and improved his diet and overall health to give himself the best chance to play.
The BCCI men’s selectors have suggested that Rohit and Virat Kohli will not viewed solely as superstars. They will only make the World Cup squad based on consistent performance.
