India captain Suryakumar Yadav took an inspiring step after his team’s victory over Pakistan in the Asia Cup final. He decided to donate his match fees from the tournament to Pahalgam victims and the Indian Armed Forces. This attack occurred in Jammu & Kashmir in April and claimed the lives of 26 innocent people.
Suryakumar Yadav donate match fees to support Armed Forces
Suryakumar announced his decision on his official social media account. He expressed that the victims will always be in his mind. “I have decided to donate my match fees from this tournament to support our Armed Forces and the families of the victims who suffered from the Pahalgam terror attack. You always remain in my thoughts,” he posted on X.
The Indian players earned INR 4 lakh for each match in the Asia Cup. They played a total of seven matches in the tournament, meaning Suryakumar will donate INR 28 lakh to the Pahalgam victims and the Indian Army.
India’s stunning victory
Meanwhile, India defeated Pakistan by five wickets in what was a highly entertaining Asia Cup final. After being set a target of 147 runs by Pakistan, Suryakumar Yadav and his team chased it down with just three balls to go. Although India struggled early, finding themselves at 20/3 at one point, Tilak Varma’s outstanding batting helped them to recover and reach the target.
