Just a day after being a key player in Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) impressive win over Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Kohli skipped an early flight to remain in his hometown for a personal reason.

On Monday, the former Indian captain joined his childhood coach, Rajkumar Sharma, for the opening of a new branch of the West Delhi Cricket Academy (WDCA) at Delhi Public School, RK Puram.

Even with a vital match against the Gujarat Titans coming up on Thursday, Virat Kohli made sure to spend an extra day in the capital to support the man who influenced his career. DDCA President Rohan Jaitley also attended the ceremony.
He took the time to hand out awards to the academy’s students, many of whom were clearly excited to meet him. In a heartwarming moment of respect, one student moved to touch Kohli’s feet. However, the modern legend quickly indicated that a handshake and kind words would be better. While addressing the students, Kohli delivered a thoughtful speech.
I chose sport very early on in my life, but that came from a very honest place,” the 37-year-old said.
