Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi accused PM Modi for “frightened” of Trump. This statement followed Trump’s claim that India would stop buying oil from Russia.
Rahul Gandhi accuse PM Modi
In a post on X, Rahul Gandhi said PM Modi allowed the US President to “decide and announce” that India would not purchase Russian oil. He also mentioned that PM Modi send congratulatory messages despite snubbed repeatedly. “PM Modi frightened of Trump. He allows Trump to decide and announce that India will not buy Russian oil. Cancelled the Finance Minister’s visit to America. Even doesn’t contradict Trump on Operation Sindoor,” he said.
Gandhi’s comments came after Trump claimed that PM Modi assured him India would stop buying oil from Russia, which he called “a major step” in Washington’s efforts to isolate Moscow due to the war in Ukraine.
Congress’ General Secretary says PM Modi a weak leader
Along with Rahul Gandhi, Congress’ General Secretary Jairam Ramesh criticized the government as well. He labeled PM Modi a “weak” leader, saying he made a deal with the US at the “cost of the country’s honour,” fearing Trump’s anger and threats.
Jairam Ramesh also called out PM Modi for his silence after Trump made repeated claims about stopping the India-Pakistan conflict. This statement came after the two nuclear-armed neighbors faced military confrontation for four days in May.
