The US military announced on Monday that it destroyed six Iranian small boats and intercepted Iranian cruise missiles and drones. This action came as Tehran tried to disrupt a new US naval effort. It is to secure shipping lanes through the Strait of Hormuz.

President Trump initiated the operation, called Project Freedom, on Monday. He aimed to take control of the key waterway from Iran, that much closed the Strait of Hormuz after the USA and Israel began their conflict on February 28.
USA Admiral Brad Cooper, the head of Central Command not comment on whether he believed the ceasefire starts on April 8 still in effect. Iran ramped up its aggression in the region, launching drone and missile attacks on the UAE on Monday. However, Cooper did recognize the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ attempts to interfere with Trump’s operation.
How does Iran React to Attack?
“The IRGC has launched multiple cruise missiles, drones and small boats at ships we are protecting. We have defeated every one of those threats through the effective use of defensive weapons,” he said.
Cooper also urged Iranian forces to stay away from US military assets as Washington commenced its operation. He mentioned that this effort involved 15,000 US troops, US Navy destroyers, over 100 land- and sea-based aircraft, and undersea assets.
“The US commanders on the scene have all the authority they need to defend their units and protect commercial shipping,” he said.
