It is likely that the dominant virus strain in India is the XBB.1.16 sub-variant of Omicron, according to the Union health ministry. In India, 1,805 new Coronavirus cases were reported on Sunday, bringing the total number of active Coronavirus cases to 10,300.
Four Covid-19 deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours, one each from Chandigarh, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh, according to the Union Health Ministry.
So far, 220.65 crore doses of Covid vaccine have been administered in the country under the nationwide vaccination drive, and 56,551 Corona tests have been conducted in the last 24 hours, according to the ministry’s website.
Coronavirus Cases – Contribution from Maharashtra is the highest
According to a health official, Maharashtra reported 397 new Covid-19 cases on Sunday, down 40 cases from the previous day, taking the overall infection count to 81,41,854.
Despite no deaths in the last 24 hours, the fatality count remained at 1,48,435 according to him.
A total of 437 infection cases were reported in the state on Saturday, 94 more than the previous day.
236 patients recovered on Sunday, bringing the recovery count to 79,91,302. There are now 2,117 active cases, the official said.
According to him, the state’s recovery rate is 98.15 percent, while its case fatality rate is 1.82 percent.
In Mumbai alone, 123 new cases were reported, followed by 47 in Thane.
Coronavirus Cases in TELANGANA
On Sunday, Telangana reported 19 new cases and tested 3,071 Coronavirus samples.
A total of 152 active cases have been reported in Telangana, but no fatalities have been reported. Telangana has reported 8,42,395 positive cases to date.
The state of Uttar Pradesh
According to health officials, 62 new Covid-19 cases were recorded in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday, including 38 from Lakhimpur Kheri alone.
Himachal Pradesh Contributions
In the past two weeks, the number of active Covid cases has risen from 133 to 415 in Himachal, officials said.
Shimla has 98 active cases, 95 in Mandi, 64 in Kangra, 61 in Solan, 32 in Hamirpur, 16 in Sirmaur, 12 in Bilaspur, 11 in Kullu, 10 in Chamba, nine in Kinnaur, four in Una, and three in Lahaul and Spiti.
