Three out of four Indians suffer from NoMoPhobia, according to market research firm Counterpoint and smartphone maker Oppo. This could mean you are suffering from this fear without even knowing it.

NoMoPhobia: what is it?

There is something known as NoMoPhobia, which stands for No Mobile Phone Phobia, which is the fear of being detached from your mobile phone. It is the fear of not being able to use a smartphone.

Our smartphones have become our personal universes that enable us to stay connected, both personally and professionally, and also for entertainment. As a result, Tarun Pathak, research director, Counterpoint Research, says, many of us are afraid of being without our phones.

Problems with batteries and charging -Nomophobia causes

Batteries and charging issues are among the top causes of NoMoPhobia, according to a report by Counterpoint. 63% of users reported emotional discomfort as a result of battery drain. 28% said they felt anxious as a result of battery drain.

Battery drain can cause users to feel anxious, disconnected, helpless, scared of missing out, unsafe, and nervous.

Around half of the respondents said that they charge their smartphones twice daily, and 87% said they use their smartphones while they are charging, and 92% said they used power saving mode on their devices.

It is estimated that 40% of smartphone users use their smartphones first thing in the morning and last thing in the evening.

In 9 out of 10 cases, users feel anxious when the battery level is between 30% and 50%

72% of people feel anxious when their device’s battery is at 20% or lower, and 9 out of 10 people feel anxious when the battery level is between 30 and 50%.

People over 50 years old are most anxious when their device’s battery level falls below 20%. 80% of people in this age group get anxious, higher than the overall average of 72%.
